moxie

When engineering student Irwin Zahn graduated from City College as an electrical engineer, he found success starting his own venture in the fashion industry. He developed technology to rapidly staple shut the bottom of the zipper, just as they became the essential closure for jeans and other apparel. It was through his entrepreneurial ventures that he forged his path, and he chose to give back to his alma matter by empowering other students to try their hand as entrepreneurs. The Zahn Innovation Center was established at the Grove School of Engineering in 2012 through a grant to the City College Fund by the Zahn family’s Moxie Foundation. An additional gift of $440,000 from Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer’s office enabled us to build a state-of-the-art fabrication lab. Come check it out.
