InGen was founded to commercialize research efforts to develop an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) as a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). During a summer internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, one of our team members met a sleep disorders expert who was wondering if physically strengthening the tongue during the day would reduce sleep apnea at night. Flash forward and they now have a complementary team of engineers and psychologists, advanced prototypes on multiple platforms, institutional approval to conduct research studies to prove efficacy, dedication of substantial resources from top sleep medicine doctors in NYC, and most importantly, an unflagging commitment to improving patient care through novel treatment alternatives.

InGen’s team includes Erik Zavrel, BS Electrical Engineering (SUNY Buffalo), MS Biomedical Engineering (Cornell University), CUNY Graduate Research Assistant; Sean Rivera, a CUNY undergraduate psychology student; Zeyad Saleh, a CUNY undergraduate biomedical engineering student; and Dr. Spielman, CUNY Psychology Professor with expertise in sleep medicine.
