1. Objet Eden 333: this printer uses Polyjet technology (layered resin cured by UV light) which has an impressive 16 micron accuracy and can print both flexible and rigid materials in a selection of colors. This has the highest material cost but also offers the most precise and functional parts.
2. Projet 3510: this has a great combination of high resolution (32 micron layer thickness) and reasonable price. Only prints rigid material.
3. Stratasys Prodigy Plus: this printer runs the same FDM technology as the MakerBots, with 0.2 mm accuracy. Although it has a slightly higher material cost than the MakerBot, it prints more reliable ABS parts with less warping, has a bigger build volume and gives better results when ample support material is required.
4. MakerBot Replicator 2: this printer shares the low cost features and FDM technology of the Replicator 1, but with an improved accuracy of around 0.1 mm. It can only do PLA plastic.
5. MakerBot Replicator 1: this printer is a great and low cost way of bringing your ideas to life. It uses Fused Deposition Modeling technology (FDM - laying plastic in layers), can print in both ABS and PLA plastics, and has an accuracy of around 0.2-0.3 mm.
